They seem to change a little bit from manga, but I really liked the changes. It helped me understand their background even better.
The trio in their childhood are so adorable and cute, and the ED art nearly killed me!

rfg

OP is good, especially that cut. It's funny, the singer is Denki Kaminari's voice actor.
Interesting portrayal of Moriarty, quite different of the evil one we had in Sherlock (BBC). I enjoy a lot those shots with his red eyes.
Anyway, promising show and the Kazetsuyo director is also behind it. I'm excited to see more of this Batman in a Victorian setting, who basically gives no shit and will allow revenge.

I love that sequence. I can't shake off the idea that it's too generic, but it looks awesome! I'm not too sure on who they are though, Sherlock and Watson? Accomplices to Moriarty?

Allow? This Batman here will actively use other people desire for revenge in other to reach his own objectives.

Yeah, I'm interested on which ways will Moriarty use.
Because in the first case it was obvious the tailor guy wanted to kill his son's ra*ist, but I wonder if Moriarty would go as far as to "psychologically manipulate" someone into killing, since we already know he's ok with teaching children to kill. I hope it isn't the case because I like this antihero take on him better.

Did, did they intentionally set the fire to get rid off all the bad nobles and take over the family?

Yeah, it seems like Albert James Moriarty and fake William James Moriarty (mc) set the fire intentionally to kill Albert James Moriarty's parents, true younger brother and probably even the butler- he could expose the fake William James Moriarty. So that fake William James Moriarty (the mc) could become the real William James Moriarty and destroy the class system from within. The one thing that is a bit confusing is how will explain the existence of Louis Moriarty. From the picture in the house, it clear the Moriartys only had two children.

Well Louis is probably posing as the live-in servant boy or as the recently taken in foster son

Interesting backstory

OK, this is epic as fuck.

Damn this definetly in top 3 animes this season no debate

Man wasn’t expecting this show to be so good! William’s vision while dark, is understandable and after seeing how Albert’s brother treated the servants you begin to sympathise with the plan. The hardest choices require the strongest of wills and Albert killing his own family is a start. Love the OP and ED too

The hardest choices require the strongest of wills

原文:「The hardest choices require the strongest wills.」

Given the current world class structure, where the wealthiest 1% control an increasingly large share of the wealth and power, I'm astounded such a cathartic show like this is getting slept on. Two episodes in, and I'm already ready to join those orphan children in burning down the nobility.

Silly Moriarty, does he not realize the problem is not with individual bad nobles but the nobility as a class? Read some Marx smh.

I think this show is getting overshadowed by too many Saturday - Sunday anime starting at once. I didn't even know this was a thing till it started airing and the only reason I started watching was because of the name Moriarty and Death Note vibes.
Hope it gets more recognition later on, so far it is definitely exceeding my expectations.

3. Kabukichou Sherlock must have been a bad experience.

To me Kabukichou was god damn awful, but the designs didn't have anything to do with it being so bad, it was the horrid comedy combined with pseudo-mysteries. Whatever good points the series harnested in the first cour, they are thrown out the window in the second cour.
I almost didn't give this show a chance thinking it would be a similar trainwreck

people are probably also tired of so much Moriarty-wanking that's been going on in the last ten-ish years?

I haven't seen any Moriarty in fiction in the last 10 years outside of FGO and a Sherlock Holmes movie. Granted I probably would've had I watched more SH movies or the miniseries.

Ok, so I'm loving the crap out of this.
First, really random point:
I love that they are pretty accurate when it comes up to dressing up the characters- cravat, hat, walking stick seem perfect for aristrocrats. (I did compare the setting to Black Butler before, but Ciel's frills and lace used to always throw me off, so seeing realistic clothing is awesome)
Second, Moriarty seems to be much more personable than I guess Sherlock will be (who is always surly and anti social in every rendition of the character). That brings the contrast between the two to a greater relief- Moriarty encourages crime with the "greater good" at the end, while Sherlock probably doesn't care much about justice etc itself and is more into solving cases (and is on the right side of the law).
Also, the trio are looking HAWT in the ED endcard.

hawt=hot=セクシー 魅力的 カッコいい

The original Sherlock cared a great deal about justice, even going out of his way to ensure it would be done, as shown in the story "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton". He appeared anti-social mostly because he hated wasting time with incompetent people, especially those in positions of authority; he however showed a great deal of compassion to the downtrodden and the unfortunate in many stories.
As much as I love Cumberbatch's Sherlock, it is a drastic re-imagining and shouldn't be confused with how the character was first conceived; furthermore that specific portrayal is certainly not universal among all the myriad adaptions.

So far this one is even more underrated than and nana. People need to watch them lol.

rfg
Clever to portray Moriarty's mannerism/character traits so innocently, even though is a morally grey character. However, those scarlet red eyes show a person who will do whatever it takes to get justice for the lower-class.
To change a whole country, a whole system very ambitious. I am liking this take on Moriarty.

Episode 1 wasn't that convincing, making it seem like it's just basicly monster of the week with an antihero. This episode however was much better. Looking forward to see the rest. Also, that OP is easily the best this season

from what i hear from manga readers, that one was an anime original ep—kinda just showing off Moriarty’s deduction skills

Makes me wonder if it was the right move starting with an anime original episode. I understand that it was meant to hook people but it def came off as a generic start.

Given the series is slated for 24 episodes, I wonder how much of the manga they could cover. I understand the manga's still ongoing in Japan, with 13 volumes currently released.

This anime really makes me wanna read the sherlock holmes books.

Like with Talentless Nana, MORE COMMENTS, MORE LIKES NEEDED! Underrated!

I really wish they explain more on the fire scene from the last part, perhaps they are gonna do that in episode 3
