・ホーリーシット・・・今回エピソードの凄さを言葉にするなんてできっこない・・・今回これを見た直後に、冨樫が復帰したとのニュースを聞いたがいつもより何百万倍も嬉しくなった。これからさらに素晴らしい内容を見ることができるんだな。
Holy shit.... Words can not describe how bad ass that episode was. After seeing this it just makes me a million times happier that Togashi is returning finally and we are going to get even more amazing content.

"Zero x And x Rose" that was NOT the kind of rose I was expecting... 10/10 would watch someone blow up like that again.

唐突？ネテロは人類最強みたいなもので、その彼が自身を犠牲にして倒したんだぞ？
少なくとも自分には王が最終的に死ぬようにしかみえなかった。
ネテロの力が通用しないのに他に誰か彼に対抗する力をもつ人間が現れるとは考えにくい。
Out of no where? Netero is like the strongest person alive in the world, sacrificing himself?
At least to me it seems like The King has to die after all that.
I can't imagine anyone else going up against him.

ネテロは以前のエピソードでもう高齢のせいでここ最近は最強ではないとか言っていたぞ。
He said in an earlier episode that he hasn't been the strongest for a while do to his advanced age.



・ちょっと言っておきたいのはネテロの「人間の底すらない進化を」の部分、実際は「人間の底すらない悪意を」だったはずなのに翻訳が「進化」に変更してしまったということ。
自分的にこのシーンの意味が完璧に違ったものになってしまった。
Just a note, when Netero says "Humanities infinite potential for evolution" I heard that it's actually supposed to be "Humanities infinite potential for Malice" but was translated as evolution.
Completely changes the scene for me.

malice＝悪意　恨み　犯意　※マリス（malice）と聞くとどうしてもMALICE MIZERが頭に浮かぶｗちなみにMALICE MIZERの意味はフランス語で「悪意と悲劇」という意味。

だね、だが悪意という言葉をここで使うのは、アリが今までしてきたレベルの悪意に、それ以上ではないにしろ、人類は簡単に達することができるということを示すものだったはず。そして人間のダークな部分を描写した直後「薔薇」がやってきて、人類史上最も邪悪な創作物が現れる。個人的にはそっちのほうがこのシーンにもっとあっていたと思うんだ。
Yeah, but the use of malice is supposed to show that humanity can just as easily show the level of evil the ants have shown, if not even more so. It paints a dark image of humanity, and then immediately 'Rose' comes up, showing one of humanities most evil creations.
I think it fits the scene better personally

原作のマンガでは悪意と進化、両方の言葉が使われているが、それはマンガだからできることでアニメではどちらか１つを選ばないといけない。
個人的にはこっちのほうが、実際に起こっていること言葉の内容にズレがあって良かったと思う。
何が言いたいかと言うと、ネテロが王を巻き込み自爆する直前「進化」を自慢気に語る場面、あそこは声にはださなくとも画面に悪意が表れているし、そのズレによりこの２つ言葉のもつメタファーがより強調される・・・少なくとも自分にはこっちのほうがよりこの場面を迫力のあるものにしたと思うよ。でもそこは人それぞれだね・・・・
The original manga page says both words. It's something you can only do in writing, so when they had to read it out loud they had to pick one. Personally I found the choice they made to be refreshing, as it caused an initial disconnect between what was happening and what was being said. I mean, think about it, Netero boasts about "evolution" right before blowing up himself along with the King. The scene shows malice even if you don't voice it out loud, and the disconnect between the two only emphasizes the metaphor more... at least I found the scene to be more powerful this way. But to each his own...

マンガでは悪意の方が強調されていますが自分もこの人と同じ考えかな。「進化」というどちらかというとポジティブな言葉なのに、画面がそれとは正反対な方がインパクトが強いと思う。

・なにが起こるかわかっていたし結果もわかっていたが今回のエピソードには度肝を抜かれて見入ってしまった。手が震えてこのアニメ史上最高の戦いについてタイプすることすらできない。
マンガ読者は何が起こるか知っていたが、その全てが予想を遥かに上回る出来栄えだった。
これは疑いようもなく２０１４年最高のアニメファイトだ！
涙はでなかった。この興奮と驚きに満ちたエピソードの楽しさに度肝を抜かれ半ば混乱状態だった。
午前３時まで起きていたのはその価値があるとわかっていたからだが、本当にその価値があった。眠れそうにないからもう一回見直すわ！！！
I can't control myself I knew it was coming and I knew the outcome but the experience blew my mind. I'm shaking. I can't even type this up, best fight in anime history ever. We manga readers knew it was coming and we knew what to expect but this just blew everything out of the park. This is undoubtably the best fight in anime out of all of 2014!
No tears were shed just the enjoyment of this orgasmic and mindblowing episode threw me in for a loop. I knew staying up until 3am was gonna be worth it but boy was it worth it. I won't be able to sleep. I'm gonna watch it again!!!

・ホーリーファッキンシット！
これが２０１１年から俺たちがずっと待ちわびていたものだ。
作画のクオリティは凄まじくビッグ３（ワンピース、ナルト、ブリーチ）が恥ずかしくなるほどだった。
魚釣りが好きなクソガキを主人公にしたアニメがこんな次世代政争を描いたアニメに変わってしまうなんていまだに信じられない。
HOLY FUCKING SHIT! This my friends, is what we've all been waiting for since 2011. The quality of animation was so amazing that it will put the big 3(onepiece,naruto,bleach) to shame. I still cannot believe that a show about a fucking kid that loves to fish turned into this next generation political war.

・ハンター×ハンターに匹敵するアニメをずっと探しているがいまだに見つからない。そんなものはありえない。
それともこの考えが間違っているって証明できる人いるか？
I am been looking animes that can compare to HxH, but i cant find anything its impossible. Or maybe someone can prove me wrong?

幽遊白書、自分の記憶が正しければハンター×ハンターの前に同じ作者によって描かれたアニメ。
Yuu Yuu Hakusho, its an anime that was done before Hunter x Hunter by the same guy if I recall correctly.

もう言われているが、冨樫の初期の作品である幽遊白書、ただ面白いけどハンター×ハンターより短い。
マギもなかなか良い候補になると思う、ただハンター×ハンターほどダークじゃない。
Yuu Yuu Hakusho, as alreasy daid, is Togashi's earlier work, though much shorter but nevertheless as interesting.
I think Magi is a pretty good contender, though not as dark as HxH.

FMA brotherhood is a great anime, but definitely far from being similar to HxH.

・「アリの王メルエム、お前さんはなにもわかっちゃいねえよ、人間の底すらない進化を」ここのセリフ本当に大好き。
考えてみるとネテロは素晴らしいセリフがいっぱいあるな。
"Meruem, King of Ants, you understand nothing of humanity's infinite potential for evolution." I really loved that line. Netero had a lot of awesome lines, come to think of it.

それは翻訳だろ？
マンガだとそのセリフはダブルミーニングなのにロスト・イン・トランスレーションが起こってしまっている。
オリジナルのセリフは
「アリの王、メルエムお前さんはなにもわかっちゃいねえよ人間の底すらない悪意を」
マンガでは（漢字で）悪意と大きな文字で書いてあり、本来は漢字につくふりがなをつける位置に（こちらも漢字で）「進化」と小さな文字で書かれている。
日本語版ではここの「悪意（MALICE）」は色々とその意味が考察され、キメラアント編の主要なテーマの１つにあげられるキーワードでもあるのに、西洋版では、そのスキャンしたものをチラッと見たことがあるがそこではただ「進化（evolution）」としか書かれていなかった。
「人間の底すら無い悪意」(humanity's bottomless capacity for malice) は「人間の底すらない進化を」よりも否定的な意味をもった言葉。
アジア人のファンとは対照的に欧米の読者はここ数年なにかを見落としていたのではないか？
「人間の底すらない悪意」は２ｃｈとかでミームみたいな扱いを受けていた。
なぜ西洋の翻訳者は進化という肯定的な解釈を強調しようと思ったのだろうか？
ネテロの不気味な笑顔、そしてあの「人間の底すらない悪意を」というセリフはずっと忘れられない記憶として心に残る（そしてきっと他の多くの人にとっても）。
英訳が代わりに肯定的な「進化」という解釈を選んだことに戸惑う。
Is that the translation?
In the manga, the lines has a double meaning that's lost in translation:
the original line is:
"Meruem, King of Ants, you understand nothing of humanity's bottomless capability for malice."
(here's the line: 人間の底すら無い悪意")
Malice (in kanji) as the BIG type, while evolution (also in kanji) is a small print in place of the usual hiragana syllabary that usually accompanied the kanji.
I take a look and notice most of the western scanlation also only choose 'evolution' as translation.
While in Japanese, the word "MALICE" is the actual keyword that's in lots of discussion, and the one major keyword for one of the major theme of Chimera Ant arc.
The line "人間の底すら無い悪意" (humanity's bottomless capacity for malice) is a lot more negative than "humanity's infinite potential for evolution"
I just wonder if the western readers has been missing something all these years as oppose to Asian fans. "Humanity's bottomless capacity for malice" was a meme or sort on 2ch, etc. And I wonder why western translator chose to highlight it in a positive spin?
Netero's creepy smile and the line "humanity's bottomless capacity for malice" has haunted me (and a lot of readers I'm sure) for a long time. I'm puzzled that the English translation chose a positive spin instead.

ちなみにロスト・イン・トランスレーションとは、翻訳において本来原文がもっていた意味が失われてしまうことをいいます。しかしこの場合、Evolution／Maliceと両方書けばいいだけなのでロスト・イン・トランスレーションでもなんでもないですね。

本来のロスト・イン・トランスレーションは、例えばゆるキャンの作者は「あｆろ」先生ですが、これが英語だと「アフロ（Afro）」になってしまい、「あｆろ」という響きがもつ不可思議かつゆるい感じ失われてしまっていますが、一方で「あｆろ」は「Afro」以外訳しようがないのでこれに該当します。

People that think this was an asspull or a deus ex machina either a) don't actually understand what those terms mean b) are an idiot or c) a combination of a and b.

これより前に「あの爆弾はご都合主義だ」という意見と「いや前から伏線が張ってあったからご都合主義なんかじゃない、この爆弾の意味がわからないのか！」みたいなやりとりが延々と繰り返されていたのでこのようなコメントがでてきました。ただそっちは訳していてあまり面白くないのでカットしました。

確かに「王と護衛軍強くしすぎちゃったけどどうしよ」ってのはあったかもしれない気もするｗ
デウス・エクス・マキナ（deus ex machina、羅: deus ex māchinā デウス・エクス・マーキナー）とは演出技法の一つである。古代ギリシアの演劇において、劇の内容が錯綜してもつれた糸のように解決困難な局面に陥った時、絶対的な力を持つ存在（神）が現れ、混乱した状況に一石を投じて解決に導き、物語を収束させるという手法を指した。




・人は極限まで追い詰められたとき、その繁栄を維持するためならなんでも実行するだけの能力がある、たとえそれが想像を絶する悪意をもった行動であっても。
この薔薇はそういう予測すら出来ない人間の本質を暗喩したもの。

本当に素晴らしい内容だった。
The rose is a metaphore of the unpredicted human nature which when forced to its extreme limit, capable of performing whatever it takes to propagate humanity, even via unthinkable actions or act of malice. That's how evolution of human race continues, and it was Netero telling Mereum that humans shall prevail because human IS superior despite physically weaker.
Absolutely brilliant stuff.



・どうしてネテロの最後のセリフを変えてしまったのか、そこにガッカリしている。そこを無視しても素晴らしいエピソードだったが、「悪意」を「進化」に変えるべきではなかった。
I am upset at how they changed Netero's final line. If you ignore that it was a great episode but they shouldn't have changed "malice" to "evolution".



・この戦いの勝者はネテロでも王でもなく、マッドハウスでありハンター×ハンターファンである。
よくやったマッドハウス。少年マンガの歴史上ベストエピソードの１つだった。個人的にだがハンター×ハンターにおけるベストエピソードでもあった。
The winner of this fight isn't Netero. Nor the King. It's Madhouse and HxH fans.
Well done, Madhouse. It was one of the best episode in shonen anime history and IMO the best HxH ep to date.
